Despite an over-sexualized Poison Ivy, this is yet another gorgeous trailer for the Arkham trilogy finale.
Connecting to a previous trailer from March, the latest Arkham Knight trailer features Batman continuing his hunt for Scarecrow. As we’ve come to expect from other videos, Batman seems to have gone down a dark path since the end of 2011’s Arkham City, and that comes out in this trailers grizzly combat. Check it out!
With less than a month until launch, Arkham Knight’s gameplay is looking buttery smooth. Sure much of the combat looks to be an expanded upon version of what we’ve come to expect from the franchise, but never has the combat seemed so fluid. Additionally, while it looks to be a little less exciting and fast paced, the Batmobile combat looks fun enough. Hopefully there is a wide range of vehicles to battle with in the full release to keep vehicle on vehicle engagements from feeling tedious.
While I’m a big fan of the combat and design of the Arkham games and I look forward to the conclusive chapter, I can’t help but be turned off by the rampant pre-order scheme developer RockSteady has created. Check out this nifty chart posted on Reddit.
On top of that criticism, I still find the $40 price tag on the game’s season pass to be ludicrous. I will most certainly be playing this game at launch, but all of these pre-order incentives and season pass shenanigans are almost enough to make me advise gamers to wait until 2016 when the game undoubtedly releases a ‘Game of the Year’ version featuring all of the content.
Regardless of frustrating marketing tactics, Batman: Arkham Knight certainly looks to play well and gamers who wish to buy the finale chapter in the trilogy can play it on Xbox One, PS4 and PC when it launches June 23rd, 2015.
