At a full 60fps, Halo 5: Guardians has never looked so buttery smooth.
In a brand-new gameplay trailer titled ‘Swords of Sanghelios’, Spartan Locke and the rest of Fireteam Osiris are neck deep in Covenant on the Arbiter’s home world. Check it out!
From the surface, the slickest improvements to Guardians is the call-outs spartans can issue the rest of the fireteam. Since the game will feature four-player online co-op, having a spotting mechanic will make teamwork just that much better. In addition to the destructable walls, perhaps one of my favorite parts of this trailer is just much verticality this particular section shows off. There’s a clear start and end point to the combat engagement, but how you get there seems to be up to the player’s style. This is definitely a much more open approach to previous Halo campaigns.
Although it isn’t exactly highlighted in the trailer, it’s interesting to note that we’ve seen very little (if any) gameplay featuring Master Chief’s journey in Guardians. It has been confirmed by 343 Industries that the story will feature back and forth story dynamics between Chief and Locke to offer alternative narratives to each mission. This storytelling device was used before in Halo 2 to show the way Chief and Arbiter’s stories impacted and intersected with one another.
