Ubisoft urges players to turn in their guns and pick up their spears in Far Cry Primal.
As Takkar, players in Primal will fight massive mammoths and fierce sabertooth tigers in a Stone Age tale of survival. Check out the reveal trailer!
Set to release on Xbox One and PS4 on Feb. 23, 2016 (and PC sometime in March), Far Cry Primal boasts a brand new open-world survival sandbox that players have come to expect from the franchise.
What isn’t clear about Primal just yet is the length of the game. Despite retailing at the standard $59.99, Ubisoft isn’t calling the game Far Cry 5. Because of this, many are rightly comparing this to the stellar Far Cry: Blood Dragon (2013) which perfectly married ’80s action films with a Daft Punk infused cyber future. Of course, based on the tone of the reveal trailer, Primal aims to be a much more serious series departure than Blood Dragon. Since the game is priced as a full-fledged experience unlike BD, gamers can probably expect a markedly larger experience.
Far Cry 4 launched in November of 2014 with solid critical acclaim, but when Ubisoft was polling gamers on what they’d like to see in the next Far Cry in early 2015, it seems a little surprising that the team is capable of putting out a quality, full-length game in 10-15 months.
Far Cry Primal launches on Feb. 23 on Xbox One and PS4 before coming to Windows PC in March.
