Xbox One gamers who purchased “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition” to get their access for the rest of the franchise next month.
It has been reported by the Gears of War Twitter page that tokens for the entire Gears of War collection will role out Dec. 1 to all gamers who have played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
In August, Microsoft and Gears of War revealed that any and all players who enjoy Gears of War: Ultimate Edition before the end of 2016 would secure access to the entire franchise via backwards compatibility free of charge. Gamers didn’t even need to buy the game, all they have to do is borrow a copy from a friend or rent it to receive their token.
The first batch of backwards compatibility titles will launch on Xbox One Nov. 12. Whether or not gamers who already own the 360 games will have access before the free tokens is yet unknown. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer revealed last week that the first titles in the backwards compatibility program would be revealed on the 9th of November, so we’ll have our answer soon enough.
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition hit shelves last August, and with some good hunting skills, gamers should be able to find a good deal on a copy before the backwards compatibility tokens roll out next month.
