Director of Program Management for Xbox Mike Ybarra teases special surprise for helpful beta testers.
November 12th is a big day for any one who owns an Xbox One. Firstly, the “New Xbox One Experience” user interface will slowly role out to the public after nearly two months of testing with the Xbox preview program. Second, the update brings with it the capability to play supported Xbox 360 games on Xbox One via backwards compatibility. Last week, the first 104 games coming to the free feature update were revealed, so be sure to check it out if you haven’t already.
As a cherry on top, Ybarra addressed an Xbox fan on Twitter to relay that there would be a little something coming to preview program beta testers.

Ybarra’s tweet is deliciously ambiguous, but preview members can probably expect more details in the next day or so as the NXOE goes public.
As for what the surprise actually is, I have a few ideas. The most obvious of which is a free copy of a predetermined backwards compatible Xbox 360 game. If I were to take a stab at which title, I would say Castle Crashers would be a great free title for the Xbox team to give away. It’s a great co-op game, and the Xbox team and developer The Behemoth essentially gave a remastered version of the game away to original Castle Crashers owners when it launched on Xbox One earlier this fall.
More interestingly, I wonder if preview program gamers could see their profiles getting badges like the ones featured above. Since the revamped friends page launched on Xbox One in 2013, some fans have been asking for badges on their profiles. As of right now, the only people with gamertag badges are Xbox employees like Major Nelson and Phil Spencer.
What do you think the surprise is for Xbox One preview program members? A free Xbox 360 game? A free movie rental from the Xbox Store? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below or on Twitter!
