Platinum Games’ Xbox One exclusive won’t be hitting its original 2016 release window.
Hideki Kamiya and the Scalebound team have announced that they need more time to polish their action-RPG, and the game won’t make its scheduled fall 2016 release. Instead, the title will launch sometime in 2017 when the game is ready.
Despite the delay, Kamiya and the team assure that Scalebound is still coming together fine in a development update.
“Development on the game is going well and we’re really happy with how it’s coming together. Scalebound is one of the biggest games PlatinumGames has ever created: an epic adventure filled with exploration and fantasy gameplay, inventive multiplayer, and action-packed battles on an unbelievable scale – all set in a beautiful and evolving world. It’s the game our team has always dreamed of making.”
Scalebound was first announced at E3 2015 with a stylish trailer that was full of Platinum Games’ signature style.
At Gamescom 2015, Kamiya and Xbox debuted a gameplay demo featuring Scalebound’s combat and teased the game’s online co-op component. If you missed it or just want a refresher, you can find the trailer below.
What do you make of the delay? Do you think the Xbox One has enough exclusives to keep fans happy in 2016 despite Scalebound’s bummed release? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below or on Twitter.
