EA and PopCap’s kid-friendly shooter to have open beta this January.
Ahead of Plants v. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2’s February release, EA and PopCap Games are hosting an open beta for the to all Xbox One and PS4 owners from January 14-18. The beta serves to test matchmaking servers and hype gamers up for the impending release.
Garden Warfare 2’s beta will offer limited access to the Backyard Battleground which acts as a hub to different game modes. The beta will also introduce three new plants (Rose, Citron, and Kernel Corn) and three new zombies (Imp, Super Brainz, and Captain Deadbeard) to the multiplayer roster.
Once players are ready for combat, joining multiplayer matches is as easy as walking up to different game modes displayed on screen. Each of the modes available in the beta will support 24-player combat. Additionally, the beta will feature four playable maps including “Moon Base Z” which boasts low gravity and other combat modifiers.
Access is as simple as downloading the beta from the Xbox Marketplace or PlayStation Store on January 14.
