During the season 2 premiere of Fear The Walking Dead, Microsoft and developer the Coalition debuted a spooky and somber trailer about father and son. Check it out:
This is far from the first time the Gears of War franchise has leaned into moody ballads in their trailers. For those who are curious, the trailer features The Disturb’s cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence.” In the past, Gears of War trailers have featured songs like “Mad World,” “How It Ends” and “Heron Blue” to portray the bleak events that surround the series.
As far as substance goes, the trailer more formally introduces us to JD Fenix. JD is the son of Marcus Fenix and Anya Stroud — two of the central characters in the first three Gears of War titles. After 25 years of peace following the events of Gears of War 3, a series of mysterious disappearances push JD and two friends to abandon their post and go looking in the woods.
One thing’s for certain, after 75 years of war, 17 years of fighting the Locust and now the new enemy, the Swarm, the people of Sera just can’t catch a break.
