After months of leaks and rumors, Warner Bros. have confirmed Arkham remasters are on the way.
Revealed this morning in an official trailer, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are being remastered for next-gen consoles. Unlike some other remasters this generation, Warner Bros. is completely overhauling their games to fully take advantage of the Xbox One and PS4’s power. Check it out:
Return to Arkham is set to launch on July 26 and will retail for $49.99 US (or your local equivalent). The remaster will feature all the DLC ever released for Asylum and City. Additionally, the game will featured updated visuals, environments, lighting, shaders, models and more. Last-gen, the Arkham games were built on Unreal Engine 3, but in the remaster, fans can expect everything to be redone in Unreal Engine 4. This means the game will look less like a shiny version of Arkham City and Asylum and a bit closer last summer’s Arkham Knight.
Missing from the remaster is Ubisoft Montreal’s Arkham Origins. While it didn’t have the same critical reception as Rocksteady’s games, it does feel a bit odd they weren’t included in the bundle.
