Next Xbox One update coming “soon”

The Windows 10 Anniversary update on Xbox One isn’t far from entering the preview program.

This morning, Xbox’s co-director of programming Mike Ybarra took to Twitter to remind people that Xbox One preview program members will be getting their hands on new features shortly.

While Ybarra hasn’t given a concrete launch window, it’s probably safe to assume the next update will enter preview program testing anytime between now and E3 on June 13. At last year’s E3 conference, Xbox head Phil Spencer revealed that preview members could immediately start playing some backwards compatible games, so it’s wouldn’t be a total surprise if they had similar plans for the new update.

While he expects there to be plenty to talk about with upcoming features, Ybarra also mentioned that not all the features coming in the Windows 10 Xbox update would be present during the initial roll out in the coming weeks.

While the full rundown of new features and improvements isn’t yet detailed, the Xbox team have promised the long-awaited background music and the Siri-like Cortana assistant will be amongst the new features coming this summer.

As the week comes to a close, hopefully Ybarra gives Xbox One preview members a release window to look forward to.
