Battlefront’s Death Star DLC gets release date and thrilling trailer

At long last, space battles are returning to Battlefront in the upcoming Death Star expansion.

Revealed through a stunning gameplay trailer, Star Wars Battlefront season pass owners can sink their teeth into the Death Star expansion pack on September 20, 2016. Gamers who wish to buy the expansion à la carte will have to wait two weeks until October 4.

As seen in the trailer, Chewbacca and Bossk will be the two new heroes in the Death Star Expansion. Earlier this week developer DICE detailed both of the new heroes. While they seem to have a decent trade off of strengths and weaknesses, Bossk and Chewie look to be a little more tank-like than previous heroes.

Back at July’s Star War’s Celebration, DICE revealed the return of space battles and now that we have a first look, it seems to have many similarities to Pandemic’s space battles from 2005’s Battlefront II. Although the Death Star expansion will likely have Fighter Squadron specific levels, it’s also been confirmed that the new Battle Stations game mode will see players duking it out in space and inside the Death Star itself.

The Death Star is the penultimate expansion for Star Wars Battlefront with the final DLC releasing in December with a Rogue One theme. Although little is known about the Rogue One expansion, the new levels will focus on Scarif, the beautiful but war-torn planet that is pivotal to the Rogue One film releasing in December. Additionally, the new heroes in the Rogue One expansion will be Jyn Erso for the rebels and Director Krennic for the empire. I’m sure we’ll here more about the final Battlefront DLC a few weeks after Death Star goes live.

Star Wars Battlefront’s Death Star expansion launches on Xbox One, PS4 and PC September 20 for season pass holders. It will be available separately from the season pass on October 4.
