Upcoming psychological horror shooter Get Even channels some of last-gens best offers in story trailer.
Get Even is a game surrounding Cole Black, a man who wakes up in an asylum with a foggy memory. What he does remember: A girl tied to a chair with a bomb strapped to her chest. With a mysterious device fused into his head that allows him to see human memory, Black must use events to trigger his memory.
In the trailer, it seems that Black is haunted by voices that are trying to manipulate him. In some ways, the “he was built to take orders” feels reminiscent of Bioshock’s “would you kindly?”. In other moments, Black seems to be tracking something or someone through the halls of the asylum, which looks a lot like the crime scene investigations in the now decade-old Condemned series.
We also get a glimpse at Get Even’s combat here, which looks to mix stealth with somewhat familiar first person shooter mechanics. Based on the firepower Black is wielding, it doesn’t seem like he’ll be hiding in lockers or under beds like fellow asylum explorer Miles Upshur from the Outlast series.
Get Even launches on Xbox One, PS4 and PC May 26, 2017.
