Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite announces new characters and a fall launch date.
Capcom has announced that Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite will release in North America on Xbox One, PS4 and Windows PC on September 19, 2017. Along with the release date, Capcom has announced a cinematic story mode where Marvel and Capcom heroes will team up to take down a new villain, Ultron Sigma, which is a new character built from the ground up to be a blend of both universes. While previous installments have had minor story elements, this is the first time Marvel vs. Capcom is tackling a cohesive narrative.
After a leak earlier this week, Capcom has also confirmed eight more fighters will be joining the roster:
- Rocket Raccoon
- Strider Hiryu
- Chris Redfield
The game can also be pre-ordered starting today and will come in several different versions. Along with the base game retailing at $59.99, Capcom announced an $89.99 Deluxe Edition which contains the base game and the character pass that grants access to six post-launch characters. Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite will also have a $199.99 Collectors Edition loaded with four character dioramas of Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Mega Man X and Chun-Li, a case filled with six Infinity Stone replicas, along with a steelbook that contains the Deluxe Edition of the game.
Everyone who pre-orders the game in North America will get Warrior Thor and Evil Ryu costumes. Those who pre-order the Deluxe or Collectors Editions will also get Gladiator Hulk and Mega Man Command Mission X skins.
With just over a month left until E3, we’re likely to hear a lot more about Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite very soon, especially considering the game was announced at PlayStation Experience last December.
Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite will hit retail and digital shelves on September 19, 2017 in North America.
