After ratings boards and chatter from Treyarch’s zombie director Jason Blundell points to a long awaited zombies remaster.
In late April, leaks sprung up on Reddit about a fifth expansion to Treyarch’s Black Ops 3. At first, many found the rumor to be unbelievable; after all the game’s final DLC came out in 2016. At the time, Treyarch said support for the game would last into 2017, which isn’t exactly unusual for Call of Duty games.
A few days later, a retailer from Poland listed the game (see below). Just yesterday, the American ESRB listed the game before removing it, adding even more legitimacy to the original rumor.
Call of Duty news outlet Charlie Intel announced today that Jason Blundell, the Zombie Campaign Director at Treyarch, would have an official reveal Thursday at 10 a.m. PST. Blundell’s comments stem from an appearance on Zombie streamer JCbackfire’s YouTube channel. JC’s channel isn’t very large, so this could end up being little more than a hoax to drum of traffic and subscribers. All of this should be taken with a grain of salt, but given the ramp up in leaks surrounding the fifth DLC, it might be worth watching.

As for what’s included in the fifth DLC, it’s believed “Zombies Chronicles” will be remastered editions of 8 zombie maps from the Black Ops series. If rumors are to be believed, the DLC should be released sometime this summer.
