After a number of leaks, Capcom has finally announced the HD return of Okami.
One of the biggest games from the mid ’00s, Okami, is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC on December 12, 2017 for $19.99 USD. The game will be available digitally on all three platforms, and physical releases on Xbox One and PS4 will also make their way to store shelves in December.
Okami HD will support 4K resolution on PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, and PCs with the necessary hardware can also enjoy 4K. The game is now optimized for modern 16:9 widescreen displays. Because of its age, Okami was originally designed for 4:3 displays, and players who want to relive the box-y aspect ratio of yesteryear will be happy to hear Capcom has brought it back as a display option.
Surprising many Nintendo fans, Capcom isn’t bringing Okami HD to the Nintendo Switch. With a Monster Hunter game coming to the platform, it’s surprising to see the publisher pass up an opportunity to release on Switch. There are also some details still missing from Capcom’s press release, such as the game’s framerate. While a smooth 60fps is ideal, Capcom staying quiet on it suggests Okami HD will retain the original game’s 30fps. Look forward to additional details ahead of the game’s winter release.
