October brings four more games to Xbox Live Gold subscribers.
With Halloween just over a month away, it’s a surprise to see Xbox’s October Games With Gold being so decidedly tame. Gone Home is one of the most influential “narrative-first, gameplay-second” games in the last decade. With an occasionally spooky vibe, the game still manages to tell an emotional story of a young woman discovering how much her family has changed during the year she studied abroad. The Turing Test is another solid game on offer this month, and fans of the Portal franchise should feel right at home. Both Rayman 3 HD and Medal of Honor Airborne are quite dated, but those looking for throwbacks might find some entertainment in Rayman’s platforming and Airborne’s Nazi slaying.
- Gone Home: Console Edition (available October 1-31)
- The Turing Test (available October 16 – November 15)
Both Xbox 360 games will be fully playable on Xbox One via the backwards compatibility program. If you’ve yet to download September’s free games, be sure to pick them up before they’re gone.
