Focusing on France, Poland and the Soviet Union, the Resistance event brings new content to multiplayer.
With the first event, Winter Siege, ending more than a month ago, Call of Duty: WWII is kicking off its newest event, The Resistance, on January 23 until February 27. In addition to new unlockables, the game is also adding a brand new Division to the game’s multiplayer component simply called “Resistance”. This new Division focuses on close quarters combat with new skills such as a map scrambler and a tactical knife pistol combo.
On top of the new Resistance Division, developer Sledgehammer is adding new weapons, gear and cosmetic unlocks to the game’s multiplayer via loot crates. Like previous crates in Call of Duty: WWII, they can be earned through in game action or purchased with real-world money. One aspect Sledgehammer is particularly proud of is the new uniforms players can unlock – as you can see below, the two they’ve teased look like civilian clothes modified for guerrilla warfare.
Keeping the event fresh, Sledgehammer has weekly playlists and special events planned. Here’s what to expect:
Week 1: PROP HUNT is coming to Call of Duty: WWII! You’ll need to use your expert sleuthing skills to find players disguised as objects hiding out around the map. For props, stealth is crucial to survival.
Week 2: There won’t be a special playlist this week, because The Resistance: DLC Pack 1 launches on PS4! It includes 3 new maps, a new War Mode experience, and the latest chapter in Nazi Zombies – The Darkest Shore. Available for all Season Pass holders.
Week 3: Get ready for our all-new MP mode – DEMOLITION! A bomb-objective mode similar to Search and Destroy, Demolition includes respawns and all attackers have a bomb each time they respawn, and both sites must be destroyed.
Week 4: GUN GAME is back! Less wintery, but still awesome. Work your way through a progression of guns. Each kill earned progresses you to the next gun. Get one kill with the final gun in the progression before anyone else to win the match.
Week 5: Prop Hunt returns this week, but this time with a “Bomb Mosh Pit” consisting of both Demolition and Search and Destroy.
Each week of the events, players who log in will be rewarded with a Resistance crate that includes a chance at some of the new multiplayer goodies.
In addition to The Resistance community event, PS4 owners can enjoy the first multiplayer expansion pack starting January 30. The Resistance maps include three traditional multiplayer maps, one map exclusive to War mode and one Zombies map. The Resistance expansion pack is expected to come to Xbox One and PC sometime in late February – presumably after the Resistance community event comes to a close.
Call of Duty: WWII fans can jump into the event starting tomorrow, January 23 and will run for just over a month until February 27 on all platforms.
