Rockstar’s highly-anticipated sequel won’t be releasing this spring after all.
In a short blog post this morning, Rockstar Games announced Red Dead Redemption II will now launch on October 26, 2018. As previously announced in a trailer last fall, the game was scheduled to launch sometime this spring. Rockstar said the team wanted to release the game sooner, but they’ll be taking the additional time to polish the experience.
The news isn’t all bad, though. In what must be a staple consolation prize for fans, Rockstar has released another batch of stunning screenshots for Red Dead Redemption II. On top of that, in the same blog post they announced the delay, Rockstar said they’d be sharing more information on Red Dead Redemption II in the “coming weeks”.
Originally announced way back in the fall of 2016, Red Dead Redemption II was slated to launch last fall. Today’s announcement marks the game’s second delay. While some might fret about the state of the game with a another substantial delay, they’ve become something of a staple for Rockstar as a developer. The publisher’s last few games, Grand Theft Auto V, L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3 and the original Red Dead Redemption all faced numerous development delays before launching and receiving mostly positive reception from critics and consumers.
Barring another delay, count on Rockstar finally launching Red Dead Redemption II October 26, 2018 on PS4 and Xbox One.
